A 'china' from Durban and a 'hoofmeisie' from PE find love in Paarl

The long pursuit of a man in love

In 2018 Jarrod first saw Lizette singing on stage in church and practically fell in love right then and there. To his major surprise, when he walked into his first home cell gathering, there she was, welcoming him with a smile and (according to him) incredibly gorgeous green sparkly eyes.

Jarrod quickly became a solid part of the friends group. During many braais, coffee shop visits, hikes, serving in the church and lounge days next to a pool, we got to know each other very well.

How he got out of the 'friend zone'

Throughout 2020, Lizette (and her friends) became very aware that Jarrod had a special liking for her, but she still saw him as only a good friend. After celebrating a big birthday during lockdown, when regulations lessened, Jarrod gathered all of his friends for a weekend away in the Karoo. In between quad bike rides, target shooting, getting to know an Alpaca named Tony, and squeezing eight people into a wood-fired hot tub, Lizette started thinking she should give this sweet, funny and adventurous man a chance.

This chance and friendship made us become best friends. And then, at the beginning of 2021, Jarrod finally managed to shake off the friend zone completely and Lizette had a valentine for the first time in many years. The past two and a half years have been a joy of companionship like no other. We are looking forward to stepping into the 'marriage zone'!
